New board members will be appointed at the end of the summer.

The board at ITU has nine members – five independent, external members, who are appointed based on personal merits, two members who are appointed internally by among others the university staff, and two members appointed by the student body.

By the end of September 2023, ITU external board members Lars Mathiesen and David Basin will both have served on the board for eight years which is the maximum number of years allowed for board members. Therefore, ITU will be appointing two new external board members. Appointments follow the university’s regulations and standards with regard to the appointment of board members. On the basis of competence profiles and an open call for applications, the Nomination Committee will submit a list of nominated candidates to the Appointment Committee who will appoint two new members. Members are appointed for a four-year term, starting October 1, 2023, with the possibility of extending the position by another four years.

The board is the university’s supreme authority and is tasked with maintaining ITU’s interests as a research and education institution. The mission of the IT University of Copenhagen is to deliver internationally leading teaching and research which enable Denmark to become exceptionally good at creating value with IT.

Every year, the board at ITU meets on three separate occasions (April, September, and November), scheduled meetings last three hours with the addition of a full-day strategy seminar once a year (June). In rare events, the board may be summoned for extraordinary meetings. All meetings are held at IT University of Copenhagen. Meeting agenda and materials are distributed a week prior to meetings.
