Special Educational Support (SPS)
What is SPS?
SPS stands for special educational support and is available for you if you:
- have a mental impairment
- have a neurological impairment
- have a physical disability
- are dyslexic or dyscalculic
SPS ensures that you receive help to complete your studies in the same way as other students. Support can include anything from physical tools to personal assistance and may for example involve:
- IT tools for dyslexics
- sessions with a reading and writing tutor
- study support from a counselor at Studenterrådgivningen
- possibility of special examination conditions
We help you apply for support once you are admitted
The support is awarded by Styrelsen for Undervisning og Kvalitet, and ITU applies for it on your behalf once you are admitted. The available support depends on your type of impairment. We recommend that you contact us as soon as possible on sps@itu.dk after admitted due to the processing time.
Here you can watch a video (in Danish) from Styrelsen for Undervisning og Kvalitet explaining how you, as a student, can apply for SPS during your education.
Please note
- You must be a Danish citizen, an EU/EEA citizen, or have the same status as a Danish citizen.
- You must be able to document your need for support (e.g., via a medical certificate from your doctor, a specialist doctor, or e-journal).
- Previous educational institutions do not automatically pass on information about your support needs. Therefore, you need to contact us if you require SPS.
- We have a duty of confidentiality and do not share your information. Your SPS support will not appear on your diploma.
Do you have questions about the possibilities?
Although we can only apply for support for you once you are enrolled at ITU, we are happy to discuss your needs and the process for allocating SPS before your studies begin.
