Research innovation

At the IT University of Copenhagen, ambition, innovation, and creativity are key driving forces. When university research meets the needs and expertise of industry, solutions with both societal and commercial impact can emerge – and this is the development that ITU actively supports.

ITU InnoCollab is the IT University’s unit for innovation and industry collaboration. The unit supports researchers in translating knowledge and research into concrete solutions – both through innovation processes at ITU and through collaboration with external partners – and contributes to projects that generate economic and social value.
InnoCollab is an integrated part of the Danish innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and operates at the intersection of research, industry, and public-sector actors. The unit maintains strong links with national innovation clusters, innovation units at other universities, and experts from the private sector.

What can we offer?

ITU InnoCollab provides a single point of entry for collaboration with companies and external organisations seeking to engage with the university’s education and research environments. Collaborations can take many forms and vary in scope, and are tailored to the interests and needs of the organisation.

Examples of collaboration opportunities

1. Dialogue and identification of opportunities
Collaboration begins with a dialogue focused on the organisation’s strategic priorities and areas of interest. Based on this dialogue, we identify relevant collaboration opportunities across the IT University of Copenhagen.

2. Collaboration in education
Companies and organisations can contribute to teaching through case-based collaboration, guest lectures, and professional presentations, in close cooperation with relevant faculty members.

3. Student projects
Organisations can engage in various types of student projects, including bachelor’s projects and master’s theses. We support the process by facilitating contact with the appropriate units at the university (for example, ITU BUILD Lab). Participation may include providing case descriptions, datasets, or similar material.

4. Courses, events, and knowledge sharing
Collaborations can be established around courses, including professional and continuing education, as well as academic events, lectures, and other forms of knowledge sharing.

5. Research collaboration and innovation

For organisations interested in research-based collaboration, we support contact with relevant researchers and contribute to the framing and initiation of collaborative projects, such as innovation projects or industrial PhD programmes.
