The programme

The industrial MSc programme in Advanced Software Engineering is aimed at students who wants to deepen their expertise in software engineering, by tailoring the programme to specific career paths, such as specialist developer, DevOps engineer, architect, or decision-maker in the IT industry.

The programme has a flexible design and offers you the flexibility to tailor your elective courses, allowing you to maintain a strong technical focus while also developing essential management skills. Given the elective courses offered, you also have an opportunity to acquire foundational knowledge of applied data science, software security and principles of business and technology management.

This flexible approach enables you to gain a deep understanding of both foundational and modern topics in software engineering and prepares you for roles that require both deep technical expertise and managerial capabilities, equipping you to succeed in diverse professional environments.

The MSc in Advanced Software Engineering is a 3-year programme. It has a broad international outlook and is taught in English. Case material is derived from both Danish and international organisations.

An industrial master

ITU’s industrial MSc programmes are based on a 1 + 2 model. This means one year of full-time study at the university, followed by two years in which students work minimum 25 hours on average per week in a company while continuing their MSc studies. The overall programme still corresponds to 120 ECTS credits, ensuring the same academic level as a traditional MSc degree.

The combination of a part-time academic education with a part-time job allows you to start climbing career levels early, while simultaneously broadening your experience and background with deep understanding of both core and modern topics in data-driven business processes across many domains and organizations. You will have a chance to effectively apply your knowledge to address challenges in designing, developing and managing real-world digital systems.
