Statement on Academic Freedom
The ITU Statement on Academic Freedom affirms freedom of research, freedom of education, and freedom of expression as fundamental to the university. Safeguarding these freedoms is essential to ensure that ideas and knowledge can be explored, discussed, and disseminated openly and without fear of censorship or retribution. This is a vital element in fostering critical thinking, innovation, and a vibrant academic community.
The ITU Statement on Academic Freedom was developed by a working group of faculty members, shared for consultation with faculty and key university bodies, and subsequently approved by the Academic Council and the ITU Board in September 2025.
