1. Before you apply
Make sure you have the documents you need to complete your application:
- Find the course you wish to take and check whether you meet any admission requirements
- Apply for pre-approval from your Board of Studies
- Read the login guide
You apply as a guest student at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) by creating an application in the Application Portal. It is a good idea to have all your documentation ready before you begin your application, but you can also save your application as draft and return later.
2. Submit your application in the Application Portal
Log in to the Application Portal
You can log in in three different ways. You can find help in the login guide.
Please note: In the Application Portal, you must apply for 'Single course as a guest student'
Please note that, in the Application Portal, you must select 'Single course as a guest student' when applying as a guest student at ITU. If you click the link below, 'Single course as a guest student' will already be selected. You only need to choose the type of application, i.e. whether you are applying for bachelor's- or master's-level courses, and whether the courses are offered as part of Summer University.
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
We recommend that you apply as early as possible, as the number of available places is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The decisive factor is the date and time your application is received.
You are welcome to submit an application even if you have not yet obtained a pre-approval from your home institution. After you apply, we will send you a guide explaining how to upload your pre-approval to your application yourself.
Please note: You cannot be offered a place on a course until you have uploaded the formal pre-approval from your board of studies (or equivalent academic authority) to your application.
Step-by-step guide to creating your application
If you need help completing the fields and understanding the application process in the Application Portal, you can read this application guide, which takes you through the application process step by step.
Applying for more than one course
You are welcome to apply for more than one course. Please note that you can only be admitted to courses that correspond to the number of ECTS credits stated in your pre-approval and that can be transferred for credit. You may take a maximum of 30 ECTS credits per semester.
You must create one application for each course you apply for. However, you can reuse the documentation you upload, so you only need to upload it once.
Prioritise your courses
Remember to prioritise your courses if you apply for more courses than you wish to attend. You will be asked to prioritise your courses when you create more than one application.
Apply as a guest student
Cancel an application
If your application has not yet been processed and its status in the Application Portal is either 'Received' or 'Under review', you must cancel the application yourself in the Application Portal.
If your application has been processed and you have received an offer of admission, you must cancel your application by sending an email to admission@itu.dk as soon as possible.
3. After you have submitted your application
You will receive a confirmation when your application has been created
Once you have completed and submitted your application in the Application Portal, you will receive a notification sent to the email address you used to register in the portal. You can then log in to the Application Portal to read the confirmation message, which is available under 'Your messages'.
When will you receive a decision on your application?
- Week 1 (spring semester)
- Week 26 (autumn semester)
If you submit your application after 15 December or 15 June, respectively, you will receive a decision on a rolling basis.
Offers of admission are sent through the Application Portal
We will send your offer of admission through the Application Portal. If you wish to accept your study place, you must accept the offer in the portal. When you receive a new message, a notification will be sent to the email address you used to register in the Application Portal. To read the message, you must log in to the portal. In some cases, we may also use the Application Portal to request additional documentation relating to the applicable admission requirements. It is your responsibility to check the Application Portal for new messages.
Applicants are admitted to available places on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that we can only admit you once we have received a complete application, including a pre-approval.
