IT University offers admission to 413 new students

1,624 students applied for the IT University’s four bachelor’s degree programmes in 2026. 413 applicants have now been offered admission.

In 2026, the IT University of Copenhagen received 1,624 applications for its four bachelor’s degree programmes. Among this year’s application figures, the bachelor’s programme in Software Development stands out in particular, with a 13 percent increase in first-priority applications. Looking only at Danish applicants, the increase is even higher, reaching 16 percent. The bachelor’s programme in Data Science also experienced significant growth among Danish applicants, with applications increasing by 24 percent.

413 well-qualified applicants have now been offered admission, and Head of Student Affairs & Programmes, Lene Rehder, is looking forward to welcoming the new students:

“There is still a considerable shortage of IT specialists in the Danish companies, so it is encouraging for both ITU and society as a whole that so many students are applying to our programmes. This is especially positive in light of the recent debate about how artificial intelligence is affecting the labour market, which may have caused concern among some potential applicants. It is important to point out that these changes will not necessarily reduce the need for IT specialists,” says Lene Rehder.

Continued Strong Representation of Women

Among the applicants who have been offered admission to the IT University, women once again make up a significant share. In total, 37 percent of admitted applicants are women, demonstrating that the IT University’s long-standing efforts to promote greater gender diversity in the IT sector continue to bear fruit.

“IT is present throughout society, and it is therefore important that the people developing IT solutions reflect, to some extent, the diversity of the users. Traditionally, IT degree programmes have struggled to attract women, and although we have not yet reached our goal, we are naturally very pleased to maintain a very high proportion of women in our programmes,” concludes Lene Rehder.
