Professor Zuboff puts digital responsibility on the agenda
Shoshana Zuboff, Harvard Business School professor emerita, talked about digital responsibility to a full hall of stakeholders from the public and private sector on October 27th. Shoshana Zuboff’s latest book has received stunning review, and it has been called the first definitive account of the economic, social and political condition of our age.

The Research Center for Government IT and the Confederation of Danish Industry had invited professor Zuboff to give a presentation of her critical analysis of the digital development of our time. She presented her impressive analysis of surveillance capitalism, and presented new concepts that will help us grasp the reality and outlook for the digitalized society, and for digital responsibility.
- With her presentation, Shoshana Zuboff gave profound insight to the concept of surveillance capitalism and inspired the future work of digitalisation and digital responsibility in both private and public sector. The Danish society is in the world elite when it comes to digitalization, to citizen’s trust in government, and general optimism about technology. Such social capital is very valuable, and it is very important that further digitalization and digitalization projects are properly implemented and carefully prepared, so that we do not fail stakeholders’ trust and optimism. Digital responsibility is very important – not just for each individual project, but also for digitalisation in general, says Jens Schmidt, Head of Research Centre for Government IT, established in a collaboration between the Agency of Digitisation and the IT-University of Copenhagen.
With her book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism, Shoshana Zuboff has put the topic of digital responsibility on the agenda, which was both illustrated by the attendance for the event on September 27, but also by her attendance in an interview in Deadline on DR2 on September 29.
