Application and tuition fees

Please pay the application fee of EUR 150 (approx. DKK 1,125) and upload a copy of your receipt alongside your application. Your application will not be assessed until the Admissions Office receives the payment.

Refund policy

• If you are admitted at one of our programmes, the application fee will be deducted from your first tuition payment.


• The fee is non-refundable if your application is unsuccessful or if you decline an admission offer.


• Once you submit your application, the fee cannot be refunded—even if you cancel later.


• Refunds are only possible if: 
  • You paid the fee but did not submit any application, or
  • You paid the fee even though you are exempt.

• Permanent residence permit ("Tidsubegrænset/permanent opholdstilladelse")


• Permanent residence permit in another Nordic country (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands). It only applies if you, while studying, continue to live in the country where you have a residence permit.

• Temporary residence permit with the possibility of achieving a permanent residence permit ("Tidsbegrænset opholdstilladelse mmf. eller mhp. varigt ophold")

• Residence permit in as an accompanying child ("medfølgende barn")

• Residence permit as a convention refugee incl. family members ("Opholdstilladelse som konventionsflygning", jf. udlændingelovens § 7, stk. 1, og § 8, stk. 1)


• Residence permit as a foreigner with protection status incl. family members ("Opholdstilladelse som udlændinge med beskyttelsesstatus", jf. udlændingelovens § 7, stk. 2, og § 8, stk. 2)


• Residence permit as a foreigner with temporary protection status incl. family members ("Opholdstilladelse som udlændinge med midlertidig beskyttelsesstatus", jf. udlændingelovens § 7, stk. 2, og § 8, stk. 2)

• Residence permit according to the EU / EEA regulations ("EU-opholdsbekendtgørelsen")

• Residence permit under the Special Act on displaced persons from Ukraine

• Citizens of EU / EEA / Switzerland do not have to pay the tuition fee.

The Danish Immigration Service will ask students from outside the EU/EEA countries to demonstrate funds before issuing a residence permit. Please find further information about residence permit on the web page of New to Denmark.

Every year the IT University of Copenhagen offers state scholarships to three or four exceptionally talented MSc applicants (full-degree students) citizens in countries outside EU and EEA. The scholarships will be offered to the applicants who achieves the best scores based on an overall evaluation of the applications.The state scholarships consist of free tuition and partly coverage of living expenses.

Applicants cannot apply for the scholarships. The IT University considers all admitted MSc students for the scholarships and informs the students chosen for the scholarships in their letter of admission.

Please note that if you receive a scholarship, you will have to follow and pass full time studies.
