On Thursday, February 23, ITU’s web server was targeted by cyberattackers in a so-called DDoS attack, a type of malicious cyberattack intended to make an online service or network unavailable to users on the Internet. The attack was part of a coordinated assault on several public institutions in Denmark and has been widely publicized since by the attackers themselves as well as media outlets.
Due to the system overload stemming from the attack, ITU’s web server went offline between 7:39-7:51 (11 minutes and 25 seconds) on Thursday morning. No data was comprised during the attack.
