ITU best at making research accessible

More than four out of five research articles from the IT University of Copenhagen can be accessed for free on the internet. Thus, ITU is well on its way to meeting the government's ambition of making all Danish research open access.

83 percent of research articles published by researchers at the IT University in 2015 are freely available on the internet. By comparison, the total average for all eight Danish universities is only 23 percent, show new figures from the Danish National Research Database.

According to the statistics, ITU is the Danish university that makes by far the largest share of research articles available to the public.

"The knowledge we produce within the field of IT can be useful and beneficial to companies, educators and ordinary citizens alike. With our Open Access policy from last year, we have a strong focus on encouraging our researchers to share their results, so they are easily accessible to others," says ITU Pro-Rector, Jens Christian Godskesen.

It is the Danish government's ambition that all research articles from Danish universities must be open access by 2022.
