ITU recruits two international researcher profiles with Start Package from Novo Nordisk Foundation
Two uniquely talented, international researchers will be moving to Denmark to continue their careers at the IT University of Copenhagen. The recruitments are supported by Novo Nordisk Foundation's new Start Package grant programme.

The competition for recruiting the best international researchers is strong, and sometimes it takes something "extra" to attract them to Danish Universities, e.g. the establishment of a research group and a laboratory. Hence, the purpose of Novo Nordisk Foundation's Start Package grants is to strengthen the competitiveness of Denmark’s universities in recruiting uniquely talented researchers who will contribute to develop and promote research in Denmark in important fields.
Recently, the Novo Nordisk Foundation granted Danish universities the first five Start Packages. Two of them went to the IT University of Copenhagen where research will be strengthened with the recruitment of these two researchers:
• Associate Professor, Jichen Zhu, who researches in human-centred artificial intelligence, which is technology based on interactions between humans and software. She receives a grant of DKK 3.2 million and is moving from Drexel University in the United States to the IT University of Copenhagen.
• Associate Professor, Zsolt István, an expert in data storage. He receives a grant of almost DKK 3.2 million and is moving from the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Spain to the IT University of Copenhagen.
The five grants run over 4 years and are the first to be awarded through the Start Package grant programme, to which the Foundation has allocated a total of DKK 140 million.
