How to document your educational background
You must document that you meet the admission requirements. Please upload the following documents in your application.
- A copy of your bachelor diploma (in English or one of the Scandinavian languages).
- A transcript of records with your courses and your grades (in English or one of the Scandinavian languages).
Please note:
- If you are taking your qualifying education at a Danish institution, you should upload a preliminary transcript of your grades.
- If you are taking a foreign qualifying education, you must also send documentation for expected completion.
Frequently asked questions
If your qualifying education is a combination of two educations, you will have to send a diploma and transcript of your grades for each separate education. Your grade point average is calculated as an average of both educations.
A combined education could for example be an academic professional degree (2 years of study) combined with a top up-professional bachelor's degree (1½ years).
If you have not yet completed your qualifying education, you will need to upload an updated transcript of your grades. If you are missing more than 60 ECTS to complete your education, you will also have to explain how you expect to complete the education before study start at ITU.
If you are taking a foreign qualifying education and if ECTS are not shown on the transcript, your institution must confirm when you expect to finish your education.
If you have a comparable education (e.g., a international education) that is equivalent to a university or professional bachelor's degree, ITU will make an individual assessment of the education when you apply.
Please note that work experience is not taken into account.
If you have previously been enrolled on a higher education on a master's level, without completing a master's degree, you are obliged to upload documentation for every element of the education that you have passed (courses, projects, written papers, etc).
This documentation will be used to assess if you are granted starting credit for some of the passed elements. The documentation must be in English or one of the Nordic languages.
Foreign diplomas that are neither in English nor in one of the Scandinavian languages must be translated into Danish or English by the educational institution, an authorized translator or a public authority.
Show your diploma in person
If you are admitted, you must also show your original diploma at study start.
Foreign diplomas that are neither in English nor in one of the Scandinavian languages must be translated into Danish or English by the educational institution, an authorized translator or a public authority. If you are admitted, you must also show your original diploma at study start. What if my university does not use ECTS?
Danish universities use the ECTS-point system to measure the total workload for the completion of a specific course or programme. If your university uses a different point/credit system, ITU will evaluate on an individual basis how to convert your credits to ECTS-points.
Below is some general information about how points are calculated and how conversion takes place:
A full bachelor’s degree in Denmark equals 180 ECTS-points and consists of six semesters each of 30 ECTS-points. One complete year of full-time study is equivalent to 60 ECTS-points.
In your application, you must document:
- how many units are necessary to complete a full bachelor’s programme in your country
- the prescribed length of time for completion of your bachelor’s degree
Please use this information to calculate yourself, to what extent you meet the specific requirements before you apply.
