Admission requirements for Games
To apply for the master's programme in Games (both tracks) you need:
If you have a comparable education (e.g., a international education) that is equivalent to a bachelor's or professional bachelor's degree, ITU will make an individual assessment of the education when you apply.
How to document your educational background
Please note that work experience is not taken into account.
Games has to tracks: Design and Technology
Design Track has no subject requirements regarding which bachelor's or professional bachelor's degree you must have. We admit students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Technology Track has academic subject requirements regarding the subjects you have had during your bachelor or professional bachelor. Please read below.
Academic subject requirements

Everyone applying to Games Technology must fill out a
Form of compliance Programmes that automatically meet the subject requirements
ITU compiled a list of Danish bachelor programmes that automatically meet the academic subject requirements. If you studied one of the programmes, you do not need to document the subject requirements in the form of compliance. Please note that this is not an exclusive list. The list might change, so we advise you to check it continuously.
- Software Development (ITU) - Graduates admitted to the BSc in Software Development (ITU) in 2024 or earlier have legal rights to Games Technology
- Softwareteknologi (DTU)
- Informatik (AAU)
- Datalogi (KU, SDU, AAU, AU)
If your bachelor programme is not on mentioned above, you must include a list of courses in the form of compliance that covers the following subject requirements:
- Programming and algorithms (minimum 30 ECTS)
- Discrete Mathematics and/or courses in vector mathematics (minimum 5 ECTS)
- One course on data (e.g., databases, data-oriented programming, statistics) (minimum 5 ECTS)
Application materials
- for Design and Technology Track
To apply for the MSc programme in Games (both tracks) you need to upload the following application material.
- Portfolio - a selection of 3-5 descriptions of practical or analytical projects that you have worked on. These can for example be games, artwork, essays, pieces of code, or design projects. If the work was created in a group, please outline your personal contribution. The portfolio must be sent as one PDF file with a table of contents in English (the content does not need to be in English). The PDF-file should have a maximum size of 10 MB.

- Please fill in a Statement of Purpose. The Statement of Purpose must be written in English.
- Please fill in this Form of Compliance. Please attach the official course descriptions and/or links to the course descriptions, when filling in the form of compliance. In addition, the number of ECTS awarded is important.
How we evaluate your application
All applications that meet the admission requirements will be assessed based on an overall evaluation, which is based on the following:
- The grade point average from your bachelor education (counts for 50% of the overall evaluation)
- Your qualifications as seen in your portfolio, previous studies and your Statement of Purpose (counts for 50% of the overall evaluation)
