An Industrial PhD is a three-year industrially focused PhD project conducted in collaboration between a company, a university and an Industrial PhD candidate. It's a unique, subsidised opportunity for businesses to access the universities' knowledge and research.
If your company wants to gain access to the newest knowledge and research in your area of business then an Industrial PhD project could be the way forward for you. The Industrial PhD candidate is employed by your company and enrolled at the university at the same time. The candidate spends all working hours on the research project and PhD education and divides the time between the company and the university.
The wage subsidy to a private company is DKK 14.500 per month or DKK 522.000 for three years. In addition, the company can receive subsidies to cover documented expenses for the Industrial PhD candidate’s activities, e.g. travelling. To be able to apply for an Industrial PhD candidate your company must:
- be a company in the private sector with a division physically located in Denmark
- be able to financially support the Industrial PhD project for all three years
- designate a company supervisor capable of supervising the candidate with regard to the industrially related aspects of the project
Applications etc. are handled by Innovation Fund Denmark, but the IT University is of course ready to help with more information. Should you have any questions please contact academic officer Anna Sommer on +45 72 18 51 52
