Course Evaluation
Each semester the IT University conducts a student evaluation of all courses taught.
How and when?
The evaluation is based on dialogue and consists of two elements:
- A formative evaluation in class to adjust expectations between students and teachers
- An online survey about teaching and student learning
The formative evaluation takes place during the first half of the course period. The survey is open for participation the last two weeks of the course period.
Teachers and management get access to student’s survey responses one week after the course ends.
Results of the course evaluation
Here you can see how the students have evaluated courses at ITU. Up to and including spring semester 2019, students responded to a survey. In autumn 2019, ITU implemented a new evaluation concept with a revised survey supplemented with a formative evaluation (the formative evaluation is not documented).

We publish anonymous course evaluation results from the survey. We neither publish evaluation results regarding named teachers, nor the students’ comments.
In the survey’s comment box, students can give feedback regarding the course and their learning experience. Students can also comment on general conditions at ITU, e.g. study environment. If the comments include something about ITU in general, the Study Administration collects and sends them to relevant departments e.g. the IT department and Facilities Management.
Quality assurance
Teachers and the study program's day-to-day manager go through the students’ responses and use them to adjust courses as needed. ITU management follow up on issues and wishes that have become visible in the course evaluation. Board of Studies and the Subject Area Teams discuss evaluation results and take initiatives as relevant.
The evaluation results are an important part of the ongoing quality assurance and improvement at ITU.
