    Appointment as an external examiners

    The body of external examiners are appointed anew every fourth year, where at least twenty five percent of the external examiners are to be replaced. This offers the chance for new potential candidates to be recommended for a body of external examiners.

    A person appointed to a body of external examiners must have the following qualifications:
    1) A relevant research-based education at master’s (candidatus) level;
    2) Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the scientific disciplines of the field, including theory and methodologies;
    3) Specific competencies within one or more academis subareas included in the programme or the specific course; and
    4) Up-to-date knowledge of the application of the programme or the specific course, including knowledge of the employer’s situation and needs.

    The Study Programmes at the IT University of Copenhagen are affiliated with two different bodies of external examiners, which consist of external examiners appointed by the Danish Agency for Higher Education.

    These two bodies of external examiners represent two different fields of academic research:

    Body of External Examiners in Computer Science (D)
    President: Associate Professor Kristoffer Arnsfelt Hansen.(arnsfelt@cs.au.dk)
    Website: https://cs.au.dk/~arnsfelt/

    Body of External Examiners in Information and Interactive Media Studies (IIM)
    President: Jesper Simonsen (simonsen@ruc.dk)
    Website: https://artsuddannelser.censor-it.dk/

    If your residence and work permit is based on a salaried job with a specific employer, please read the rules on sideline employment below.

    The rules enable foreign nationals that have been granted a residence permit as a researcher (under the Researcher Scheme or the Researcher Track of the Fast-track Scheme) as guest researcher or as a PhD student to take up sideline employment without submitting a specific application for sideline employment. It is a precondition that the sideline employment is naturally related to the job that forms the basis of the foreign nationals residence and work permit.
    Researchers, including researchers under the Fast-track Scheme, guest researchers and PhD students are – under the new rules – allowed to take up unlimited sideline employment.

    Researchers with a residence permit under the Pay Limit Scheme are not subject to the new rules on sideline employment. These researchers continue to need to apply for a specific permit for sideline employment.

    Read more about sideline employment for foreign citizens in Denmark here.
