SQUARE is the Software Quality Research Group and Andrzej Wąsowski is the group coordinator.
The main aim of the group is to investigate programmes and programmers in order to identify and solve flaws in the software, which are either due to human errors or technical mistakes. The group is especially interested in configurable systems with numerous possible combinations that the programmers aren’t able to test.
After identifying the errors the SQUARE group develops a “hammer”: A tool or a method that can correct the errors and improve the programme. An important example is a tool that can identify defects in highly configurable systems in just 12 minutes. Previously, it took years to find and solve the errors.
The SQUARE group also observes the impact the tools have had on the programmes in order to see if they make a measurable difference.
