Algorithm Research Group

Algorithms are the mathematic foundation that makes any computer programme work. Therefore Algorithms are a core discipline in Computer Science, and the ITU research group is investigating a wide range of applied as well as theoretical algorithm issues.

The research group coordinator is Rasmus Pah, and many of the researchers have a mathematical approach to researching algorithms, where a large part of the research has a purely mathematical approach to the algorithms. The Villum Foundation donated 40 million Danish kroner for the Basix Algorithm Research Copenhagen-project (BARC). The work is focused on the universal mathematic solutions instead of the use or application of the algorithms.

Other researchers in the Algorithm Group are more engaged in the applied Algorithms and Algorithm Engineering. These researchers are interested in investigating how algorithms are implemented on different sorts of machines and computers.
