The XP2020 conference on agile and lean methods is the 21st conference of its kind. It is organized by the Agile Alliance, an international organization, supporting practitioners working with agile methods. As a consequence of the corona pandemic, the conference will now be hosted virtually by the IT-university.
Slight changes
When deciding to move the conference online, the organizers decided to “condense” the program a bit, shortening its sessions and talks.
“Sitting by the computer for a long time can be exhausting, for the participants,” says Maria Paasivaara, Associate Professor at ITU and General Chair in the organizing committee. This, however, does not mean that there are any big changes to the content of the program. “We are excited to present more than 100 speakers from all over the world”, she says.
More can participate
Originally the conference was limited to around 300 researchers and industrial practitioners, but since moving the conference online, this is no longer an issue.
“More people can participate when this is online, so far, we have had almost 600 registrations, and we are expecting the number to rise”, says Maria Paasivaara
According to Maria Paasivaara, another advantage of moving the conference online, is that the XP2020 conference can now feature speakers, that might not otherwise travel to the Denmark to participate. Among those is one of the keynote speakers; Professor Michael Cusumano, from MIT, who is talking at a Software Intensive Business research workshop, on Monday afternoon.
Research and practice
Agile Software Development is an umbrella of approaches within software development that focuses on how the developers work together while creating software.
“This conference is suitable for both experienced Agilists, as well as to people that are just starting to use Agile in their organization, as the conference offers both advanced and basic sessions. As industrial participants we expect, e.g., Agile coaches, managers, Scrum Masters and developers. The broad range of international experts participating, ensures that a lot of new ideas, and the newest inventions in the Agile area, are shared during the conference by both researchers and practitioners. The main take away from the conference is certainly being up to date to the newest Agile knowledge in the world.” says Maria Paasivaara.
The conference takes place online, on June 8-12 2020, between 15.00 and 19.30. Read the
